Afterschool Programs and Camps for Teens in Durham NC

What is iNviTECH?

iNviTECH is a entrepreneurial technology summer camp for teens in Durham and afterschool program for children in the 6th-12th grade. Our summer program will teach
students how to make a wearable device as well as entrepreneurial skills. The summer camp is a 2-week Monday through Friday session that
starts July 18th. Our pride is in making learning fun and engaging for our participants. The main goal is to engross members in 21st century
practices and prepare them for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Participants will also be encouraged to explore innovation with the possibility of combining their STEM skills with entrepreneurial endeavors.
Education is key to the economic growth and future of the economy; at iNviTECH we will be nurturing the entrepreneurs of the future. We
look forward to providing a lifelong experience that will educate, inspire and engage young minds. We would love to meet your talented
child and have the opportunity to work with them!

Wearable Devices: iNviTECH summer camp is guaranteed to be the highlight of your child’s summer! Campers in 6th-12th grades will be
submerged in a wearable devices journey. Using the Arduino LilyPad, your child will create and design a wearable device to monitor health
conditions.

  • Why wearable devices? According to Juniper Research, wearable devices are one of the fastest growing categories in consumer electronics,
the wearable technology market is predicted to be worth at least $19 billion by 2018. Some examples of this technology that is being
used today are FitBit, SmartWatches, and Garmin Vivosmart.

As the sessions come to an end your child will participate in a Shark Tank style competition. The groups of children will present their ideas
to a panel and this panel and their peers will choose the winning group.

21st Century Skills

    • Members will learn collaboration & teamwork skills. Learning to work with a team when accomplishing a specific task is as a major asset
in today’s global economy. At our program, children and youth are engaged in this process starting at the summer camp and going into
the regular school year. Participants will learn that effective teamwork is essential to accomplishing any task.

    • Our program teaches critical thinking & problem-solving skills by stimulating innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. These are words
that our member will hear and deeply understand daily. The students will be encouraged and celebrated when engaging in these such behaviors!

  • Participants will get a chance to strengthen their writing & presentation skills at iNviTECH. We have daily writing assignments about their
experience through out the summer camp. An interactive reflective yearbook will be created about their experience at the summer camp.
Students are taught strategies on how to improve their presentation skills. This is to prepare members for their final project which
is a Shark Tank style competition with their wearable device creations!
